Rocky Mountain ETA Ecosystem
For people who cannot go back to being students.
Most people who want to buy a business already have a job, a mortgage, and no interest in a two-year degree. Executive education is the route built for them.
Short, practical, and built around the work.
Executive education is non-degree teaching for people already in their careers.
In an acquisition context that means the parts you cannot easily learn on your own: how to develop a thesis and source deals, how the financing actually gets structured, what diligence should tell you, and how to lead a company in the first year after you own it.
It is measured in days rather than semesters, and it tends to be taught by people who have done the thing rather than only studied it.
Ways to learn now.
Build practical ETA knowledge through workshops, regional conversations, and university courses.
-
The conference workshops
November 7 runs hands-on workshops alongside the talks: thesis development and deal flow on the Search Curious track, and small-group deal review and valuation on the Advanced one. A day rather than a certificate, but the same kind of teaching.
-
The monthly meetup
The Denver ETA Meetup runs a panel or interview every month, which over a year adds up to a reasonable education in itself, and costs you an evening rather than a fee.
-
University courses
If you are in a position to take a university course, the Deming Center at CU Boulder runs one specifically on entrepreneurship through acquisition.
Taught by people who have done it
Days, not semesters.
Practical teaching built around the parts of an acquisition you cannot easily work out on your own.
